Tequila town center

Day Tour of Tequila

You can see the whole town in one day. Some of the biggest producers of Tequila are rooted here. Any one of them offers an extensive tour and you can learn all you need to about Tequila and its history. The downtown center is colonial and charming. The city definitely took into account that people would want to visit the birthplace of Tequila and designed the town for tourism. I visited Tequila on a tour from Guadalajara but I didn’t want to limit the information to the city because I did a lot of research into the city before I chose to take the tour.

Tequila’s signature dishes are…

  • Pozole: A hearty and traditional soup made with hominy, pork, and chili peppers, garnished with shredded cabbage, radishes, and lime.

Casa Sauza Hacienda

A really nice place to eat while enjoying the large landscaped courtyards and entertainment.

The Best Things to Do in City

The Focus of Tequila Town are the Distilleries

If you walk around the town, you will run into Tequilla distilleries to tour. Some big names like Sauza, Cuervo, Casa Maestri, or Casa Orendain. I’m not a tequila gal but I would suggest Googling one or two that you want to visit.

Where to Stay – Accommodations

This might just be me, but I think one or two days might just be enough to get all you want out of Tequila. But YOU may want to spend a week here being that you have a shiny sparkling healthy liver.
